Privacy Policy

The Short Version

MatrixShader is built with privacy in mind. The desktop software runs locally with no telemetry. The website uses lightweight, cookie-free download counters. We collect email addresses only when you voluntarily provide them.

Website Analytics

We use a lightweight, self-hosted counter system to track aggregate download and installation counts. Our analytics:

• Does not use cookies
• Does not collect personal information
• Does not track users across websites
• Does not store IP addresses
• Records only aggregate event counts (e.g., total downloads)

We may also use Vercel Analytics for aggregate page view data. No individual user can be identified from this data.

Desktop Software

The MatrixShader desktop application:

• Runs entirely on your local machine
• Does not send telemetry, usage data, or crash reports
• Does not collect any personal information
• Stores all configuration files locally in %LOCALAPPDATA%\MatrixShader\

License Key Activation

Red Pill license keys are validated offline using cryptographic verification. During activation, the software makes a one-time call to our server to register the activation. This records:

• A one-way hash of your machine identity (machine name + username + OS version)
• The date and time of activation
• Your IP address at the time of activation

This data is used solely to enforce the 3-machine activation limit per license key. If the server is unreachable, activation still succeeds offline. After activation, no further internet connection is required.

Email Collection

If you voluntarily subscribe to our mailing list on the website, we store your email address. We use your email to:

• Send product updates and new feature announcements
• Send occasional promotional emails about MatrixShader

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. We do not sell, share, or rent your email address to third parties.

Payments

Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy. We do not directly handle, store, or have access to your payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). Please refer to LemonSqueezy's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Data We Store

We store the following data in our database:

• Activation records: A hashed machine fingerprint, activation timestamp, and IP address for each Red Pill activation (up to 3 per key)
• Email addresses: Only if you voluntarily subscribe to our mailing list
• Aggregate counters: Total download, install, and activation counts (no personally identifiable information)

We do not store usernames, passwords, or account profiles. There is no account system.

Children's Privacy

MatrixShader does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page with the new date. If you are subscribed to our mailing list, we may also notify you by email.
